Sodi Tech UK, the exclusive distributor of Sodick EDM machines in the UK, is celebrating its busiest trading period to date, as the first half of 2025 sees a surge in demand from sectors such as aerospace and defence.
Despite a backdrop of global uncertainty, including tariff discussions and shifting political landscapes, the company reports record machine sales, an expanding customer base, and continued investment in engineering expertise. The recent upswing in government investment in manufacturing, particularly in defence, is opening up new opportunities for UK suppliers.
Greg Capp, Sales Director at Sodi Tech UK, commented:
“Can you believe we’re already halfway through the year? While most people are getting ready for their summer break, we’re still flat out preparing machines for installation. It’s been a fantastic year so far — easily our busiest yet.”
“Some might say it’s been a difficult year to trade, but we’ve seen the UK market respond positively to political shifts, global uncertainty and new defence commitments. There’s definitely opportunity out there, and we’ve worked hard to make sure we’re ready for it.”
A standout moment for Sodi Tech UK was its first Open House event in six years, which welcomed both new and existing customers to its Warwick HQ. The event allowed attendees to see Sodick machines in action and gain hands-on experience with the latest EDM technologies.
“Opening our doors made a real difference,” said Greg. “It’s one thing reading about what a Sodick machine can do, but quite another to see it running. We even had a decades-old machine on display, still holding micron tolerances — proof of the lasting quality we provide.”
In addition to machine installations, the company has invested in staff development, events and a more active social media presence, further strengthening its position in the market.
“We’ve done incredibly well generating new business this year,” Greg added. “That’s partly down to the strength of our brand, but more than anything, it’s about the trust our customers have in us. People are talking about our service, our machines and the reliability we deliver — and that’s bringing new opportunities our way.”
Sodi Tech UK has supplied equipment into a wide variety of industries in 2025 so far, with projects including advanced aerospace, medical and defence applications.
“We’ve seen some really exciting work this year,” said Greg. “Our strength lies in combining great technology with clever engineering — that’s what makes the difference. I want to personally thank all of our customers for their support so far in 2025. We’re excited about what’s still to come.”
